Today, We had a blast at Thatcham Family Fun day - We got people up and shooting hoops and eating cake pops baked by our awesome cook, Vickie...
She raised an AMAZING £91.50 from her cakepops, cookies and wristbands so a big thank you to everyone for their support. She also was on hand to help raise awareness of "Ehlers Danlos Syndrome".
We're at Thatcham's Family Fun Day THIS SUNDAY. Help us get Rio Ready by trying out our great sport!
We will have a hoop and some chairs so you can whizz around and have fun, plus you can meet some of our team and get some hints too...
We're also helping out Thatcham Sports Network with the Junior Fun Run The races are kindly sponsored by Newbury Weekly News and Thatcham Rotary There are 100m races for 3-4 and 5-6 year olds. The Junior Fun Run is 750m with categories for U9s, U12s and U15s.
Entry is based on their age on the day of the race.Trophies will be awarded for the first three boys and girls in each age group.
Entry is on the day costs £5 and registration is open 11am - 1pm.
The Kings took part in Thatcham Fun day yesterday - with a stand promoting ourselves and a basketball hoop for people to try out the sport.
Also members of the kings assisted with the fun run organised by Thatcham Sports Network (TSN) who took on the challenge to organise the Junior Fun Run in the Field from the Spring Charity Fundraisers charity organise the Fun Run. There were 90 entries to the Fun run despite the wet weather during the registration period. The money raised from the Fun Run has been donated to Heart Start Thatcham, who were chosen by TSN as they felt it benefited all of the community.
The event was sponsored by Newbury Weekly News and Thatcham Rotary Club provided all of the Trophies.
Kings Mascot Uncle Bob finished 5th in the Mascot race and has been banned from eating pork pies for the foreseeable future!
Doctor Nick Young thanked TSN for choosing Heartstart as the chosen Charity for this year's event. Heartstart Thatcham brings the Heartstart scheme, which is a British Heart Foundation initiative, to Thatcham and surrounding areas. The scheme teaches people what to do in a life-threatening emergency-simple skills save lives. This scheme provides free Emergency Life Support (ELS) training in the community.
The Thames Valley Kings are proud to announce our involvement in Thatcham Family Fun Day Tomorrow
We will be hosting a stall, with the chance for people to try to shoot at a BWB regulation height basketball net from a wheelchair - to show people how challenging wheelchair basketball really is!
Also, our mascot, Uncle Bob will be running in the Mascot race, he's got his running shoes all clean, he's given up the pork pies and has done a little bit of training - the question is - can he win it?
Crowds of children will also take part in fun races that for the first year ever have been organised by the Thatcham Sports Network (TSN) and have been kindly sponsored by the Newbury Weekly News.
Kings Head coach and TSN Chairperson , Jacqueline Scoins-Cass MBE will be also help with presenting the prizes!
The event takes place at Henwick Worthy Sports Ground, Thatcham, between 11am and 4pm
