Match report from British Wheelchair Basketball Divison 3 South and West - Kings Vs. Celts

Thames Valley Kings 15 Vs Cardiff Celts 54

In the teams' first game ever of Division 3 the season started with Thames Valley Kings playing at their home ground to Celts. Ryan and Kieran also made their début into playing in the adult league side. The teams tried hard at each end of the court for the first basket with both team putting shots up and them not dropping till the 2nd minute when Celts where first on the score board. Celts found the net and then went onto score a further 6 points before Reece opened the scoring for Kings. The first quarter was tough for kings with the end of the 10 minute score, kings 2 v celts 14. Kings had been working hard to stop the ball and had picked up 4 fouls in the first quarter.

Kings came back out on court with determination to stop Celts fast breaks. Reece scored a great basket and picked up a further point from the free throw line. Wayne tried his hand at getting a good shot away, caught his own rebound but was not able to get the points as the shorts where just not dropping for the kings. End of quarter score 5 Kings v 24 Celts. After the half time break Nick scored his first basket of the season and Reece added to the total from the free throw line after being fouled in the action of shooting. The team where putting up as many shots as Celts but they just did not seem to want to drop for the team. As the teams went to the bench for half time the scores where 5 Kings v 24 Celts. Kings returned to the floor with great passion and trying to bring the score line closer together but it was not to be. Nick and Reece added to the score total, with kings putting up almost as many shots as Celts, but the shots where bouncing off the ring - or even around and back out again! The team where working hard on defence but they could not stop Celts no 17 on the fast break.

As the 4th quarter started the team worked hard to add to the score with Kieran scoring his first basket of the season, making the progression well from the under 15s team where he had been shooting with a smaller ball and at a lower height just over a month ago. Ryan was getting some great rebounds when Celts where missing their shots and getting the turnovers. Joe adding further points to the teams total before Reece scored the last basket of the game. Celts winning the first game of the Div 3 season for both teams 54 v15.

Scores: Nick - 2 points, Reece - 9 points, Joe - 2 points, Kieran - 2 points

Fouls: Joe - 4, Wayne - 1, Ryan - 2, Nick - 3, DJ - 1, Reece - 1
