The Kings took part in Thatcham Fun day yesterday - with a stand promoting ourselves and a basketball hoop for people to try out the sport.

Also members of the kings assisted with the fun run organised by Thatcham Sports Network (TSN) who took on the challenge to organise the Junior Fun Run in the Field from the Spring Charity Fundraisers charity organise the Fun Run. There were 90 entries to the Fun run despite the wet weather during the registration period. The money raised from the Fun Run has been donated to Heart Start Thatcham, who were chosen by TSN as they felt it benefited all of the community.

The event was sponsored by Newbury Weekly News and Thatcham Rotary Club provided all of the Trophies.

Kings Mascot Uncle Bob finished 5th in the Mascot race and has been banned from eating pork pies for the foreseeable future!

Jacqueline Scoins-Cass MBE, Kings Head Coach and Chairperson of Thatcham Sport Network (TSN) said "it was a great first event for TSN and that we could make the fun run happen. Thanks to all the sporting clubs of Thatcham that Volunteered to support and help the Run go ahead".

Doctor Nick Young thanked TSN for choosing Heartstart as the chosen Charity for this year's event. Heartstart Thatcham brings the Heartstart scheme, which is a British Heart Foundation initiative, to Thatcham and surrounding areas. The scheme teaches people what to do in a life-threatening emergency-simple skills save lives. This scheme provides free Emergency Life Support (ELS) training in the community.
