Thames Valley Kings are delighted to have received a grant of £9,000 for 3 new wheelchairs. The grant was awarded by Berkshire Community Foundation, through a donation by the David Brownlow Charitable Foundation.

This volunteer run sports club based in Thatcham, offers one of the few opportunities for people with physical disabilities to participate in sport; enabling them to improve their social skills and confidence.

The new wheelchairs will be used by participants in both the junior and the adult leagues, for at least 10 years. The grant will enable the club to continue to survive and remain part of the British Wheelchair Basketball league, which has helped develop the player's capability significantly.

The Thames Valley Kings would like to express a great deal of thanks to the Berkshire Community Foundation, the David Brownlow Charitable Foundation and to Dave Carter who assisted in getting the grant.

The Thames Valley Kings are proud to announce our involvement in Thatcham Family Fun Day Tomorrow

We will be hosting a stall, with the chance for people to try to shoot at a BWB regulation height basketball net from a wheelchair - to show people how challenging wheelchair basketball really is!

Also, our mascot, Uncle Bob will be running in the Mascot race, he's got his running shoes all clean, he's given up the pork pies and has done a little bit of training - the question is - can he win it?

Crowds of children will also take part in fun races that for the first year ever have been organised by the Thatcham Sports Network (TSN) and have been kindly sponsored by the Newbury Weekly News.

Kings Head coach and TSN Chairperson , Jacqueline Scoins-Cass MBE will be also help with presenting the prizes!

The day also includes a funfair, dogshow, car show, stalls and much more.

The event takes place at Henwick Worthy Sports Ground, Thatcham, between 11am and 4pm
