The Kings went into war this past Sunday when they took on a CWBA 3rd team at St. Barts School in Newbury, A game where every quarter felt like a miniature Battle and straight from the start where Tip off was won by CWBA and they applied the pressure on Kings right from the start of the match. They had traveled down from Coventry and did not want to go home without the big win. A Kings defensive struggled and an offence which just couldn't find the net sums up a first quarter with CWBA leading 11 to 2.
A change in the line-up for kings and a jiggle of tactics saw them come back to the floor for a counter-attack which saw them dominate the second quarter to produce a reverse of the first quarter scores with Reece Barker on fire adding points to their tally, whilst the team denied CWBA the opportunity to add to theirs. Nick Gorse returning to Division 3 action for the first time this season, returned in style to score the last basket of the quarter as the teams headed to the bench for half time with the scores tied at 13 each.
The 3rd quarter was almost end to end with both teams shots not dropping as much as in the first half, both team taking the battle seriously, not wanting the other team to take any advantage. A real nail-biting quarter which saw both defenses working extremely hard. Ryan Jones, Greg Rose and Reece Barker adding to the team score to end the quarter with a 2 point ball game - Kings 19 to CWBA 21 .
Final score - Kings 28 CWBA 3rd 25 in a very close game between both teams who next meet in March.
